Hi, my name is Stan. I am a brand new member of the Ware Historical Society and this webpage. I have been reading Arthur Chase's book, but I find it difficult understanding the places he was talking about. Maybe some of you can help me. He speaks of places such as Merritt's Springs, Double Springs, McMaster's House, the Rodger's Inn, Shaw's Tavern or Crowell's tavern. I believe that Shaw's tavern or Crowell's tavern was on Flat Brook in Ware center.
I just recently purchased an old map of Ware from 1876. It has the name of all of the land owners of that time. The only one I can find is Crowell and they lived at Ware center. The map I have is really nice and I now have it framed in my study. If anyone who reads this can help me with my research and perhaps give me a better understanding of Chase's book, please let me know.
Thank you,
-Stan

I have come a long ways in understanding Arthur Chase's book in looking for locations of old places. If anyone is interested, I will gladly share my research.
